CHICKENSITTING at John & Amy's

Still moulting a little, but otherwise a fine looking chicken. Very good at finding worms.

What a lovely hen, a Black Australorp I am guessing. We love our small flock, they are such great composters, fertilizers and bio-control. They too are in various stages of molting. In fact that's how we first became chicken ranchers. Some city-folk neighbors had a couple of hens, the first time they molted the owners thought they were sick or dying and quit taking care of them. We rescued the one hen that the coyotes did not eat and named her Little Red Hen. That was back in 1985, we have had chickens ever since.
